Trending: The stories behind the featured films and TV series.

We are seeing the bestselling memoir, "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, gaining popularity once again due to recent release of the movie.

"The Mountain Between Us" by one of my favorite authors, Charles Martin, or the classic "Murder on the Orient Express", by Agatha Christie, have movie adaptations to be released this fall.

Most people find the book is better than its adaptation. In a book you can "sit with the words on the page" and take your time with your thoughts and emotions. The author goes to great lengths to describe a scene, provide background, and give you perspective to immerse yourself in their story.  In a movie it is more visually engaging and you are a captive audience for a limited amount of time. They immerse you in the story and use background sounds and music to illicit the feeling.   Both can be equally entertaining, but most will find a greater connection to the story told by the author versus in a film.

We hope you enjoy both the books and movies. Enjoy the books that are available now and check out the movies once they are in our library.   Find out about new dvds and blu-rays we add to our collection by signing up for our New and Notable movies email.
